The Opportunity

As our Software Engineer, you will help us achieve our goals and deliver success on behalf of our customers by developing services and infrastructure for our global, multi-tenant SaaS platform.


You will cooperate with engineers working across the product to deliver new, cross-cutting functionality and to maintain and update existing systems. Working with internal stakeholders to understand and specify product requirements. You will work with and become knowledgeable about cloud infrastructure and managed cloud services, writing and monitoring automated tests to ensure the correct functionality of systems owned by your team.


This role requires participation in an on-call rota to support the production services owned by your team (including out-of-hours support where required).


We have offices in both London and Cambridge, so ideally you will be within a commutable distance of either office, and be happy to come in 3 times a week. If you’re interested in the role but require more flexibility, please speak to us!


Day to Day

  • Deliver new features with some supervision: from specification, through development, and into final deployment
  • Be aware of how your work fits in with the team’s area of responsibility and contributes to the team’s goals
  • Perform code reviews
  • Communicate progress regularly whilst identifying any blocking issues and escalating where required
  • Build and maintain good knowledge of the team’s area of responsibility and engineering processes
  • Contribute to and working on cross-functional features and bugs
  • Provide input into future technological development and improvements to your team’s workflow


About you


Must haves:

  • Ability to manage and prioritise your own workload
  • Experience working with modern IDEs, source control and continuous integration systems
  • Comfortable working with large codebases
  • Comfortable learning and working with multiple programming languages
  • Knowledge of common automated testing practices
  • Experience with object-oriented programming, preferably in Java


Great to haves:

  • Experience of relational and/or NoSQL databases for production workloads
  • Knowledge of common large-scale data processing and storage technologies
  • Experience with RESTful (or other) API design
  • Message queueing systems
  • Hands-on experience with AWS and Kubernetes
  • Experience with NoSQL query design
