SW Engineering Manager

Dundee (Hybrid)

Salary: £62- £68K (DOE) + Bonus + std benefits

We are seeking a dynamic, self-motivated individual to join our Media Handling team based at the NCR Discovery Centre R&D site in Dundee.

You will be responsible for managing the team developing and supporting software for our dispense and deposit devices within the media handling team.

Using your experience and knowledge you will make significant contributions to our projects and be a great mentor for other team members to learn from.

A key requirement is to have several years’ experience managing a team of more than 5 people, that are developing real time firmware and software.

Main responsibilities shall include, but will not be restricted to:

• Planning and prioritising of development team activities.
• Clearly report and articulate status of all development activities to management.
• Managing and coordinating responses to internal/external customer escalations.
• Responsibility for schedule and quality of team deliverables.
• Proactive monitoring and improvement of field performance.
• Continuous review/improvement of development processes
• Shall be capable of working with cross-functional teams
• Experience of working in Waterfall and/or Agile development methodologies
• Experience with Jira/Kanban and other project management tools.
• Help engineers develop and navigate their career paths.
  
  

Basic Qualifications

• A Degree in a Software\Computer\Electronics Engineering/Engg .
• Minimum 3 years of experience managing a software development team.
• Background in one or more of the following:
• Embedded development
• Real time operating systems e.g. VxWorks, FreeRTOS or uC/COS-II(-III) RTOS
• PC\Device application-level software (Linux, Android or Windows) C++, C#, VB, Java or C
• Software design and methodologies
• Software configuration management – Github or similar tools
