Do you have recent experience working in a secondary school supporting inclusion of pupils with SEND? Do you have experience and specialist knowledge to support pupils with cognition and learning? Are you committed to inclusion and getting the best outcomes for vulnerable learners? If so we would like to hear from you!

This is an opportunity to join a newly formed SEND support service. We offer schools specialist support around cognition and learning and SEMH. We are looking for a new member of the team who can take a lead in developing the offer of support to secondary schools. You will need a creative and flexible approach to your work, working with others in the team to consider the needs of pupils with SEND and how they can be met in the mainstream setting.

As a newly formed team you will be joining at an exciting time where we are developing our offer to schools. You will be joining a busy, committed team, with plenty of opportunity for development. Merton is a diverse borough and we are keen to ensure that the team is equally diverse, representing the community in which we serve, and whilst we welcome application from all, we would especially like to hear from teachers whose ethnicity is from the global majority.

You will need to have specialist understanding of cognition and learning needs, ideally with additional professional qualifications in this area (level 5/7). We would expect that you will have some experience of using a range of learning assessments tools will have utilised literacy/learning interventions and have developed bespoke programmes to meet individual needs. It would also be advantageous if you were an approved accessor for access arrangements, or have experience in this area.

Our team is committed to improving the inclusion of pupils with SEND and making our schools as inclusive as possible for vulnerable young people.

Interviews for this post will take place on 19 May.
