Full-time or part-time, permanent role

Salary: £42K - £52K depending on experience

Hours: Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm. Option to work longer hours to finish early on Friday.

Location: Chester town centre, 15 minute walk from the train station.


About the role:

Working in a special education school with 108 pupils aged 4-19 years with complex autism, learning difficulties and behaviours that challenge to deliver bespoke therapy.

Your main responsibilities as a Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist:

  • Work as part of a trans-disciplinary team ensuring each pupil’s needs are understood, accurately planned for and closely monitored.
  • Advise members of the teaching team in relation to pupils’ speech, language and communication development to achieve the best possible outcomes for children and young people.
  • Provide both direct and indirect therapy for individuals and groups of pupils.
  • Assess pupil’s need for and use of evidence-based alternative/ augmentative communication (AAC) including signing, communication books, voice output communication aids, etc.
  • Collaborate and contribute to the development of positive behaviour support plans, working closely with behaviour analysts, the class teacher and other relevant team members
  • Contribute to annual review and EHCP reporting


What we are looking for in a Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist:

  • HCPC registeration
  • Experience of working with children and young people with autism and complex learning disabilities
  • Experience supporting AAC use including low or high tech
