The Job Role 

 

You will work as part of the Warehouse Management Team in our well established Andover warehouse, leading your own team of Stock Control Operatives to ensure that all procedures and measures are in place.

 

You will work closely with the Warehouse Operations Manager and WMS Analysts to proactively make changes to the WMS to ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of the system, giving greater control to stock and reducing the potential for stock errors. You will support our Stock Accountants to maintain accuracy levels in line with audit guidelines. You will support our Customer Service/Fulfilment and Finance team to ensure an effective operation is established and maintained.

 

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities Will Include:

 

  • You will lead a team of Stock Control Operatives, maintaining good work practices and monitoring performance levels of the department as well as ensuring full staff coverage during all shifts. Act as first point of contact for all training, performance and people related issues within your team. Supervise and contribute towards general good housekeeping and champions excellent Health and Safety.

 

  • Developing and establishing best practice in warehouse management procedures, ensuring all team members receive a full induction and regular training and that procedures are clearly communicated and followed.

 

  • Work closely with the WMS Analyst to ensure the WMS is maintained accurately, within the agreed parameters and in a timely manner, and ensure efficient stock consolidation is completed on a regular basis.

 

  • Complete all necessary stock takes and blind counts – meeting deadlines for counting and inputting and updating data and reporting all deficiencies, as well as keeping updated and accurate count sheets.

React to ‘can’t finds’, VAR issues, damages and thefts – reporting all issues and initiating the appropriate remedial action or business process.

 

  • Liaising with the Customer Services department when investigating claims from customers and reporting outcomes. Maintain a strong working relationship with all other Warehouse Operations teams, finance, stock accounting teams and the internal auditor. Support on all internal and external audits.

 

  • Work collaboratively with other warehouse mangers to ensure that the warehouse is operating efficiently and to help with any warehouse improvement projects.

 

Is this the role for you?

To be successful in this role you will have some of the following skills and experience and the desire to develop in other areas:

  • Previous experience within a fast-paced warehouse environment and a good understanding of warehouse management system and stock control measures and processes, ideally with experience of managing and leading a warehouse team. Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate a diverse team to deliver excellent results.
  • Experience of stock takes, counts and audits within a warehouse or distribution environment. Strong organisational skills with a high level of attention to detail. Able to work to tight deadlines and within a fast paced and high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills at all levels of the business and with our customers and suppliers.
  • Able to embrace change and holds a relentless desire for continuous improvement and delivery of operational effectiveness. A positive attitude with a focus on problem solving.
  • Experience with a recognised WMS (Manhattan, Infor, SAP) would be desirable.
