The Marine Sub Agent / Agent is an integral member of the VolkerTrenchlessSolutions Team; the team being responsible for the effective and efficient running of the marine department from work winning through to the delivery of projects. It is expected that the Marine Sub Agent / Agent will act in a professional and responsible way at all times maintaining good working relations with client, designers, site management, our chain of sub-contractors, suppliers and with the general public.
Skills Required As Follows
- Previous experience of heavy civils projects, preferably in the marine sector. Packages include; Jack-up barge operations, marine vessel operations (flat top, split hopper, multicat), dredging, piling, diving, structural steel fabrication.
- Performing the role of a temporary works supervisor / co-ordinator and exposure to implementing temporary works solutions. Ability to identify temporary works requirements, draft briefs and engage with design teams to solve challenges.
- Experience managing lifting operations, holds Appointed Person qualification ideally but not not essential.
- Ability to use AutoCAD and ideally SketchUp
- Degree/HNC, or equivalent, in civil engineering.
- Ability to challenge permanent works designs and resolve problems to conclusion.
- Focused on driving value out of design and improving on subcontractor tendered costs.
- Ability to track, monitor and manage commercial and quality change events.
- Roles will be site based. Offices based in Woodbridge/Lowestoft.
- One of the roles may require offshore working, living aboard jack-up barge. Offshore rota to be confirmed.
- Drivers license, CSCS card, SMSTS preferred.
- PROJECT DELIVERY
- Produce handover pack, brief the delivery teams on the job requirements.
- Produce programmes for external and internal use to track progress on projects and ensure they are delivered on time
- Maintain drawing register
- Support in tracking project costs
- Request task orders for getting design work completed
- Assist the Marine installation teams with RAMS
- Support with required paperwork and admin associated with hire and sale jobs
- Assist commercial team with any request for evidence or information on costs to support with CE’s and EWN’s
- Request and check monthly invoicing when required
Keep Accurate And Up To Date Records
- Assist in the maintenance of documents in accordance with QA procedures.
- Maintain records as required
- Support in the maintenance of the teams filing structure
Health and Safety
- Be fully aware of the Company’s Health and Safety policy
- Be responsible for the health and safety of yourself and of others
- Ensure Sub Contractors comply with company standards, giving inductions when required
- Contribute and produce RAMS
- Complete COSHH assessments
- Support safety ripple related activities.
About You
- Marine background / knowledge would be desirable
- Excellent IT knowledge including use of AUTOCAD, SketchUp and Microsoft suite
- Degree/HNC, or equivalent, in civil engineering desirable.
- Minimum of 3-5 years varied site experience in Civil Engineering.
- Successful achievement of specific ICE attributes
- Full Driving Licence
