What’s the role?
This project is based in the
Policy Team within the
Chief Executive’s Directorate in the Council.
The Chief Executive’s Directorate works with the Mayor and Cabinet to ensure the Council’s strategic objectives are achieved. The directorate's activities span the whole organisation and include policy development and strategic decision-making, supporting the organisation to attract, retain and manage a highly skilled workforce, and ensuring staff and residents are informed, consulted, and engaged. It also ensures that the democratic and decision-making process in Lewisham is managed in accordance with the law. The project will be based within the
Policy Team and will involve working across a range of council services. It will require creativity, problem solving skills and an understanding of the importance of equalities, diversity and inclusion.
The intern will be working on a 1:1 basis with the Council's Disability and Co-Production Policy Officer on issues directly facing disabled residents. They will also support Co-Production workshops and help to establish a Disabled People’s User Led Organisation within the Lewisham.

- An understanding of the issues faced by disabled residents within Lewisham is beneficial.
Location
The job is based in Laurence House, Catford, SE6 4RU.
Special conditions
- You must be a 2nd year undergraduate student AND have a Lewisham-registered home address (these details will be verified prior to interviews)
- You'll receive 4 days' annual leave which must be taken during your 8-week placement. If you have any other holidays booked beyond the 4-day allowance, these will be unpaid.

Salary
London Living Wage - £13.85 per hour; 35 hours a week
