What’s the role?
This project is based in the
Housing directorate in the Council.
Our newest directorate,
Housing, was created when Lewisham Homes transferred into the Council in October 2023. The Council is responsible for managing 19,000 homes and supports the residents living in them. The
Housing Strategy division are the experts in tackling homelessness, providing temporary accommodation, and ensuring quality standards in private sector housing. Whether you're facing a housing crisis or need advice on your rental property, they've got your back. With their support and guidance, they're here to ensure everyone has a safe and secure place to call home.
The intern will work on a Housing Services Review and Improvement Project, aimed at cataloguing housing services, mapping key processes, and updating referral forms, policies, and guidance notes to align with legal and Ombudsman recommendations. Through hands-on experience in policy review, process mapping, and stakeholder engagement, the intern will gain a deep understanding of housing operations while developing transferable analytical and problem-solving skills.

Location
The job is based in Laurence House, Catford, SE6 4RU although there might be opportunities for visits to our satellite sites across Lewisham borough
Special conditions
- You must be a 2nd year undergraduate student AND have a Lewisham-registered home address (these details will be verified prior to interviews).
- You'll earn 4 days' annual leave which must be taken during your 8-week placement. If you have any other holidays booked beyond the 4-day allowance, these will be unpaid.

Salary
London Living Wage - £13.85 per hour; 35 hours a week.
