Role Objectives:
Reporting to the Procurement and Commercial Director, the Supply Chain Manager will support project teams and business unit stakeholders by developing procurement strategies and contracts with UK Construction Supply Chain. With the objective to provide robust pre and post contract SC management to support Glanua UK’s business growth and objectives. This is to be undertaken whilst ensuring compliance with Glanua’s Health, Safety, Environmental & CSR requirements.
You will maintain an ethical and consistent approach to procurement in line with our Quality and Commercial Procedures. The focus of the role is in discovering and implementing an effective Supply Chain for Glanua UK across existing Utility Frameworks and any future Framework awards in the United Kingdom. This will be achieved with close management of supply chain relationships in order to maximise value and manage risk.
In time setup an effective measurement of the SC’s performance will feedback into a preferred supply chain list for future works and contract opportunities or as necessary change SC performance.
The role will manage a direct report (Buyer) whose directed efforts will contribute to the objective of delivering the SC solution for Glanua UK.
Your mission
- Sourcing new suppliers and sub contractors for the future growth of Glanua UK
- Providing SRM and Sub contractor assessment to suitable KPIs
- Prioritise the workload across framework contracts to deliver best supply chain solutions at competitive pricing to deliver savings to the project in fiscal value, time and overall delivery terms.
- Implementing Glanua’s Group Procurement strategy within the UK business including alignment of any “global” supply contracts where applicable.
- Identify and then Select sub contractors and suppliers using a structured business-based comparison (commercial/ operations) to generate a shortlist and recommendations for our project delivery teams and then measuring their performance.
- Identifying subcontractor packages within a Project Framework and delivering value by assisting in negotiations with SC and or removing materials when feasible so to procure these better by direct purchase and on time delivery.
- Understanding and utilising Frame Contracts made by our clients and implementing them effectively in Glanua’s projects. Reporting any variation to contracts Manager for application for claims.
- Scheduling tendering events to deliver sites procurement schedule
- Collating & assessing quotations received ensuring compliance with specifications.
- Negotiating pricing, payment terms & conditions in line with project budgets.
- Build, manage & updating a Supplier Database of suitably vetted Sub contractors for possible contracts within projects in UK.
- Ensuring sub contractors are vetted for HSQE guidelines and hold relevant Insurance Coverage for their contracted tasks.
- Assisting Q. S’s with Subcontract procurement as and when required and identifying alternative SC solutions as appropriate.
- Visit supplier facilities and conduct vendor appraisals
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for candidates who have working knowledge of NEC conditions of contract, along with experience in developing procurement strategies, framework management and supply chain management.
To be considered for this role, we would value the following skills and experience:
- Quantity Surveying degree / CIPS or equivalent
- Experience in managing supply chain activities
- Experience of managing frameworks/contracts on significant projects or programmes of work
- Experience of the procurement process, including strategy development and implementation
- Experience of NEC forms of contract, including contract drafting and contract administration.
- Solid knowledge and understanding of purchasing processes within Construction Industry
- 5+ years previous experience within the UK Construction Industry.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills & the ability to multitask, work to deadlines & work under pressure.
- Accurate and precise attention to detail.
- Able to make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
