The University of Sunderland offers life-changing opportunities for 27,500 students across its campuses in Sunderland, London, Hong Kong, and through global partnerships with learning institutions in 15 countries. We're proud to be a top 50 UK university (Guardian University Guide 2023), with top-quality facilities, inclusive culture, and our vibrant, ever-changing city.
The Timetabling, Attendance Monitoring, Exams and Graduations team provides support for the publication of academic timetables and exam schedules, the monitoring of student attendance, organising the University Graduation ceremonies and the production and verification of associated certificates and transcripts.
Would you like to work in an engaging and busy team based in Academic Registry where you will be planning, producing and publishing teaching timetables for academic staff and students?
About the role
Please note this is a fixed-term vacancy until April 2025 (suitable for secondment) and will ideally start as soon as possible. It is a full time hybrid role (37 hours per week) where you will spend some time working from home and some based at City Campus in Sunderland. The role involves liaising with Programme Leaders to plan teaching timetables for next academic year within a specific Faculty area, inputting student data from online module choices and creating personalised student timetables, identifying clashes and negotiating rooms with other timetabling colleagues and academic staff.
About you
We are looking for someone who is a logical thinker and can work 'outside of the box'. The ability to manage your own workload is essential, so good planning and organisational skills are key. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are also essential to this role, as is a recognition of working within a procedural framework. Previous experience of using CMIS or other database software would be an advantage, but not essential as full training will be provided.
