Toolmaker

We are currently looking for a Toolmaker to join our Kidlington manufacturing team.

The role holder will be responsible for undertaking Tooling activities within an injection moulding tool repair workshop that's aligned to a busy production (manufacturing) environment. The role holder will possess strong Toolmaking skills and technical knowledge of injection moulding tooling. These abilities will be used to make critical decisions on tooling within the business.

You will work under the management of our manufacturing department and closely with our production operational teams and tool room team to handle all tool requirements.

This is a fast paced, busy environment where no two days are the same. Organisation and constant communication with our team is essential to the success of the department.

Typical Responsibilities

• Build & repair tooling to a high standard to maximize output and ensure product quality meets the required standard to maintain a high level of RFT.
• Work closely with production technicians to minimize downtime in the production area
• To proactively update technicians with regard to work status.
• Work closely with Quality team in identifying and rectifying product failures and rectification work.
• Responsible for trouble-shooting tooling issues.
• Support new tooling projects coming into the business
• Support CI initiatives & 5S programs to drive change and tooling development.
• Utilise Toolmaking skills by repairing, maintaining and carrying out option changes.

Required Skills and Experience

• Experience of working within a similar role.
• A time served Toolmaking apprenticeship
• The skills and experience to operate standard Toolroom equipment efficiently and safely.
• An understanding of injection moulding and dip moulding processes
• A "team player" with the ability to work productively and easily with others.
• Excellent communicator.
• Flexible and approachable.
• Excellent personal organization and time management
• Self-motivated and able to work alone is essential
• High attention to detail
• Builds excellent relationships at all levels
• Computer literate - MS Office including Excel/Word/Office.
• Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering (or similar) (desirable)
• Level 3 Apprenticeship in Engineering Technician (Toolmaker & Tool & Die Maintenance Technician) (desirable)
• Haas operating and programming (desirable)
• XYZ lathe RLX control programming and operating (desirable)
• Sodick AD35 EDM operating and programming (desirable)

The hours of work for this role are Monday to Friday 8:00-16:30.
