Cygnet are seeking to recruit a full time, experienced and motivated Forensic Psychologist in Training to join Hudson Hospital at Cygnet Bury in Greater Manchester. This role will be working 40 hours per week from Monday to Friday.
Cygnet Hospital Hudson provides care for adult males across 6 secure wards:
East Hampton – 13 bed low secure ward for adult males
Upper East – 13 bed low secure ward for adult males
West Hampton – 13 bed Medium Secure Mental Illness ward for adult males
Lower East – 13 bed Medium Secure Mental Illness ward for adult males
Madison – 13 bed Medium Secure Personality Disorder ward for adult males
Columbus – 13 bed Medium Secure Personality Disorder ward for adult males
Job Role
The role of the Forensic Psychologist in Training will be to support and enhance the psychological care of clients within Hudson hospital by assisting the Qualified Psychologists in the delivery and evaluation of effective services that meet Cygnet’s Healthcare objectives, national strategic and policy guidelines, commissioner requirements and user and carer needs and expectations. The role involves the administration, scoring and report writing of psychometric assessments, standardised risk assessments, clinical formulation and supervised individual and group interventions. The post holder will also be required to contribute to staff training, research and psychological consultancy to aid service delivery and improvement. Our Forensic Psychologists in Training are enrolled on appropriate professional qualification courses to enable them to achieve HCPC registration as a Forensic Psychologist. Clinical supervision is provided in line with expectations of the professional training course completed.
Candidate Profile
You will be a strong team player, confident, motivated and well organised. You will have a good understanding of the role of therapeutic boundaries, clinical risk and the importance of evidence-based interventions. You will have prior experience of completing risk assessments and risk based psychological interventions. You will have your under graduate degree in psychology and hold an accredited Master’s degree in Forensic Psychology.
Previous experience of working within in-patient mental health services and settings is essential alongside some knowledge or experience of secure settings. At least 6 months previous experience of working as an Assistant Psychologist or equivalent is essential. All candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and reference checks.
