We provide solutions to the risk posed across the UK and around the world, both on and offshore, from unexploded bombs and munitions related to current and former military land use, aerial bombing and conflicts.
About the Role
We are currently recruiting for a Trainee Project Researcher to join our team. We are looking for candidates to write Preliminary and Detailed UXO Risk Assessments, who have a passion for research and military history, an excellent eye for detail, and good analytics skills.
The successful candidate will work initially from our central office in Hoddesdon and then at home on a rotational basis. The salary starts from £22,222,20.
About You
It is essential that you have a degree in History or a similar subject, have excellent technical writing skills and can display analytical, research and attention to detail attributes. A qualification in military history is preferred, but excellent knowledge and interest in WWI/WWII and military history is essential.
You should also have excellent verbal and written communication skills, work with a high level of accuracy, have good MS Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), are able to prioritise effectively, have the ability to meet tight deadlines and be highly flexible and adaptable.
Key Tasks
• Research and write Preliminary and Detailed UXO Risk Assessments.
• Produce written project reports to deadlines and manage own timescale for report production.
• Identify historical information resources and organising visits to obtain all required information; which may include visits to local and national archives nationwide.
• Historical research as required for active projects and as background to site works.
• Maintaining, updating and improving department historic databases and mapping.

• Duration: 6 month probation moving onto Permanent role
• Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week)
• Salary: £22,222,20
