Job Title: Trainer - Operational Control Centre

Job Type: Permanent

Hours: 37

Salary: Up to £35k depending on skills and experience

Location: Durrington - Hybrid Working (3 Days Minimum in the Durrington Office per week, with some night shift working as part of operational waste coach role).

Key Purpose

The Operational Control Centre Trainer is responsible for developing and delivering industry leading training across the water and wastewater spheres of Southern Water's Control function. This is undertaken by reviewing current training needs or future business solutions and developing comprehensive packages that set Southern Water's employees up for success.

The trainer will utilise the Microsoft office suite to develop and deliver industry leading training to build competency in a variety of courses and applications. They are expected to maintain the content of these courses and future proof them with regards to business needs.

The standard delivery of these programs is a mixture of face-to-face in the Durrington Head Office and virtual learning where applicable.

The team are working alongside and with the guidance of our industry accreditors to ensure we meet the compliance and deliver schemes such as the Energy Utilities Skills Register's Licence 2 Control scheme which launched in 2023, and Southern Water is the first in the utilities industry to have created and be delivering this for both Water and Wastewater.

The role requires a confident individual who can deliver regularly to a variety of new cohorts. Has a level of emotional intelligence and understands and can adapt to different learning styles. This could be representative of a new starter or someone who has been with the business for many years.

As part of the induction programme, they will be the face of Southern Water and expected to demonstrate the behaviours and values of the business.

Accountabilities

Estimated Time Spent

  • Deployment and Delivery of Training to the business needs - 65%
  • Development of Training relevant to the business needs and changes -10%
  • Liaise with Line Managers and Coaches to deliver assessments focused on the training topics -10%
  • Co-ordinate and administrate logistics for training programmes and events - 5%
  • Handle enquiries regarding to training and development, escalating as needed -5%
  • Undertake assessments as identified in the training programmes -2.5%
  • Liaise with regulators to ensure compliance to standards is maintained - 2.5%

  • Able to work on their own initiative to deliver training solutions.
  • Understand how to train to a group and on a one-to-one basis where required.

Qualifications
