We’ll broaden your horizons

Tax is a dynamic, ever-changing industry. As our clients’ needs and the regulatory environment evolve, you’ll encounter new problems to solve and new opportunities for growth. You can expect a mixed portfolio (of ‘widget TP’ with some pricing of debt) of documentation and advisory projects. Contributing also to the implementation of new intelligent technology solutions, you’ll enjoy variety as well as stretch in your role.
BDO supports all kinds of different businesses in different sectors across the UK and around the world. You’ll be providing services to start-ups and scale-ups, to private businesses and large listed multinationals. Each of our clients has different needs and in applying your expertise in different contexts, you’ll develop your skills and gain valuable experience that will serve you throughout your career.
We’ll help you succeed
You’ll be part of our North region’s transfer team that we are investing strongly in to match our ambitious plans, led by a transfer pricing partner based in Manchester. We are targeting high levels of growth and plan to invest heavily in the team over the next few years. There will also be plenty of opportunity to support and learn from the national transfer pricing team, get involved in central training, business development and proposition development. Some of your time may also be spent supporting the London tax region group on a national pooled resource basis, giving you a wide range of diverse opportunities.
The primary role responsibility will be client account management, dealing with all matters relating to the management of a portfolio of existing clients and to assist with the development of targets in order to ensure the continued growth of the business, i.e., end-to-end scoping through to delivery, and ongoing relationship management). You will also provide assistance in implementing the growth strategy for the region, helping the team to deepen and widen its capabilities, and will be encouraged to identify specific areas to own and run as part of your ongoing development within grade and to align with your aspirations. This will include building our presence and availability to support to our region’s office locations (there are 6 offices in the North region although regular travel outside your home office is not expected) as well as sector, technical or sub-specialisms / areas of your particular interest. If you join us, we’ll make your growth our priority.
Key to the role is for the individual to be able to pro-actively manage their own workload, taking ownership of their client portfolio, communicating with the team on a regular basis. Furthermore, the individual will be expected to be able to consider and highlight further opportunities to develop new work.
We’re looking for someone with:
- A minimum of 3 years full time transfer pricing experience (candidates with less experience may be considered for an alternative Manager role).
- Problem solving capabilities and the ability to deal with complex technical issues as they arise
- A reasonable understanding of other areas of tax and how they interact with transfer pricing
- Ability to explain key recent updates and areas of focus in the area of transfer pricing within the UK
- Confidence in their ability to deliver and manage documentation and benchmarking exercises
- Ability to manage a substantial portfolio profitably
- Drive to seek opportunities for selling new services to existing clients
- Experience of dealing with client senior management and key stakeholders
- Experience of delegating work, investing time to upskill people on the job
- Experience of managing staff
- CTA and/or ACA qualified or equivalent (alternatively experienced hires with >10 years experience in the field will also be considered)
