Are you an experienced driver looking to contribute to the community while enjoying a great work-life balance? West Berkshire Council is seeking a dedicated Transport Services Driver to join our Transport and Countryside Service, providing essential transport services to our local residents.
The Role
As a Transport Services Driver, you will be responsible for:
- Driving a range of vehicles to provide transport services for children and adults who are eligible for transport assistance
- Ensuring the safety and well-being of passengers during transport
- Collecting and delivering passengers to designated locations
- Maintaining accurate records of journeys undertaken
- Carrying out daily vehicle checks and reporting any maintenance issues
- Adhering to relevant legislation and Council policies
This role is key in ensuring that our transport services meet the needs of the community, enabling access to education, employment, and social activities.
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
- Hold a valid UK driving licence with category B entitlement
- Experience in driving and maintaining vehicles
- Good knowledge of road safety and relevant legislation
- Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to interact positively with passengers and their families
- Reliable and punctual, with a flexible approach to work
- Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team

- You will also be entitled to a generous annual leave entitlement starting at 28 days per annum (plus public holidays) Rising by an additional 5 days after 5 years’ service.
