DWF are currently seeking a Trust manager to join our growing Private Capital Team. This role handles a broad range of high-quality work covering all aspects of non-contentious Private Client law, including wills and estate administration, wealth management and trust administration for high value clients. The role also encompasses working closely with our Contentious Trusts and Probate and Tax teams and advising major banks and insurance providers across the UK.

If successful, you would work on a hybrid with up to 50% of time being spent at home and 50% of your time in the office with the option to be based from Manchester, Birmingham or Liverpool.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Private Capital Team in various aspects of trust administration.
  • Meticulous preparation of trust accounts, income tax returns, and the management of general trust administration tasks.
  • Managing Trust Registration Service (TRS) updates, registering new trusts and providing crucial assistance to the Private Capital team in navigating trust compliance under FATCA, CRS, and TRS.
  • Active engagement with HMRC, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of trust tax compliance procedures.
  • Ensuring timely payment of trust income tax and other taxes as required.
  • Addressing periodic tax events within trusts, such as ten-year anniversary charges, entry and exit charges, and the death of life tenants, is a significant component of the work.
  • Support the wider Private Capital Team in preparing estate accounts, calculating estate income and capital gains tax liabilities and preparation of estate tax returns during Probate administration.

What will help you succeed in this role?

Essential

  • Previous experience within a Trust Manager or similar position.
  • Thorough Understanding of trust and estate tax and compliance procedures.
  • Experience working with trust and estate administration and, wealth management for high value clients.
  • A high level of organisation, time management, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise and meet deadlines under pressure.
