Our philosophy emphasises continuous development and community involvement for autistic individuals, believing they can lead full, purposeful lives. Our services are tailored to meet individual needs, fostering greater independence in their homes and communities. The support we provide includes skill development for daily living and encouragement to engage in a wide range of interests.

Role Description

This is a volunteer remote role for a Trustee at Autism at Kingwood. The Trustee will participate in the governance of the organisation, supporting strategic planning, ensuring compliance, reviewing policies, oversight, and decision-making processes.

We are looking for trustees who are genuinely interested in finding out about other people and their lives and

• are happy to ask the difficult questions
• are happy to give of themselves their experience and knowledge
• would like to be a part of a senior team
• would like to gain experience working at a strategic level, including understanding the world of providing social care

There are four onsite board meetings, usually in Didcot which last half a day (expenses are reclaimable).

• All our trustees belong to a committee, and these meet four times a year usually in the month preceding the board meeting, last one to two hours, and are on Teams
• Other than these you would be very welcome to visit services and connect with staff, join us for our Christmas party and summer celebrations if you would like to – these are entirely optional but those who come once always sign up for the next one as they are such uplifting joyful events!

There is no ‘right person’ just the right attitude, you would get the support and training you might need.
