Job Description
We are offering an exciting opportunity to help build a newly established business unit responsible for critical infrastructure across the airport, including road tunnels, baggage tunnels, and service subways. This M&E-focused role involves delivering maintenance through contractors and other Heathrow Engineering Teams, with a strong emphasis on safety, asset management, and continuous improvement.
This diverse role requires expertise in various engineering disciplines, including Electrical, Mechanical, Control Systems, Civil, and Fire Engineering. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with Heathrow’s operational teams, external stakeholders, and engineering consultancies, ensuring seamless service delivery to our customers.
This is a shift-based role covering Monday-Friday, primarily consisting of 3 weeks of day shifts 8am -4pm and 1 week of night shifts 8pm – 4am; some flexibility required.
Your role will involve
- Ensuring tunnel engineering works are undertaken in a safe and compliant manner.
- Driving continuous improvements in asset performance, with proactive management of overall workload and performance.
- Undertaking regular quality assurance checks, fire risk assessments and workplace inspections. Auditing on site permit inspection, RAMS and contractor work quality. Responsible for the upkeep of key tunnel documentation.
- Developing and managing key internal and external stakeholder relationships, and communicating any scheduled tunnel closures.
- Timely completion of all necessary reports/forms, undertaking investigations and providing feedback to business areas and central teams as required.
- Providing support to the Asset Management team to ensure efficient project delivery and the accuracy of our asset management system, Maximo.
These Skills Are Essential
- Holds a UK driving licence.
- A strong engineering background, ideally electrical and mechanical, within maintenance and delivery.
- Ability to manage and motivate teams to deliver an effective maintenance service.
- Knowledge and ability to operate Maintenance Management Systems.
- Strong technical knowledge and sound understanding of engineering principles.
- Skills within Microsoft programmes including Excel.
Ideally, you’ll also have:
- A recognised Health & Safety qualification.
- Proven managerial experience within a similar role / environment.

Working Location
Our agile approach offers the opportunity to combine home working with meetings, events and training at the airport. All roles involve some on-site working each week, so you’ll need to be based in the UK and within a commutable distance to Heathrow.
