The role

Part of the Translation team, the Vendor Manager is a new and exciting opportunity at Clear Voice. You will be responsible for managing our network of translation and ancillary service vendors, ensuring that we deliver high-quality, timely, and cost-effective translation services.

The role will be responsible for sourcing new translation vendors and ancillary service suppliers to support the growth of our translation department.


You will work closely with internal stakeholders to understand their language needs and identify and coordinate with external vendors to ensure fulfilment of all requests and consistent quality across all translation projects.


This role will also provide wider project management support to the translation team including resource allocation and full project management to meet organisational needs and business goals.

Role responsibilities

​Vendor Selection and Evaluation

  • Build and develop a large pool of translation vendors to support the growth of the translation department.
  • Develop and lead a strategic approach to vendor management that creates strong connections.
  • Source and evaluate potential translation and ancillary service vendors based on their capabilities, expertise, and quality.
  • Undertake translator assessments as part of the onboarding process.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews of vendors to assess quality, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing with translation vendors to ensure competitive rates while maintaining quality standards.
  • Develop the vendor recruitment process to enable the business to scale at pace.


Vendor Relationship Management

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with translation vendors to ensure high-quality service and timely delivery.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the company and translation vendors.
  • Monitor vendor performance and provide feedback to ensure consistency and accuracy in translation outputs.
  • Drive partner relationship management efforts to maintain and grow agency partnerships.


Project Management

  • Coordinate translation projects from start to finish, ensuring deadlines, budgets, and quality expectations are met.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (sales, marketing, operations, technical teams, etc.) to understand translation requirements.
  • Build and develop excellent relationships with stakeholders at all levels by being a proactive, responsive, strategic resource.
  • Assign projects to the appropriate vendors based on their expertise, cost and availability.


Quality Assurance

  • Implement quality control processes to ensure translations are accurate, culturally appropriate, and aligned with brand voice.
  • Review and approve translations, providing feedback as necessary to improve quality.
  • Oversee the localisation of content to ensure it is consistent across all languages and markets.


Budget Management

  • Track and report on vendor costs and performance metrics to senior leadership team.
  • Manage the translation budget, ensuring costs are controlled and within the allocated budget.


The experience and skills you need

  • Demonstrable experience leading system improvements to optimise vendor tracking, reporting and contract management. Successful track record of sourcing translation vendors for multiple services and diverse industry sectors.
  • Proven experience in managing translation vendors, including contract negotiations and performance evaluations.
  • Proven analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate vendor performance and make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with vendors.
