Job Title: Veterinary Surgeon (GP)
Location: Wicstun, Market Weighton
Hours: 40 hours over an optional 4-5 days with a 1:4 weekend rota. Night rota optional.
Practice: Wicstun Veterinary
Salary: £40,000 - £70,000 per annum (Depending on experience)

The team
As a team, we often discuss clinical cases and have regular team meetings to share knowledge and communications. We welcome supporting certificate studies for our associates, if you have a particular interest, you are welcome to discuss it with us!

We are a very well-equipped hospital (CT, laparoscopic equipment, hydrotherapy suite, ultrasound) as well as having certificate holders in surgery, CT imaging, and medicine. We also have vets working towards certificates in ECC, and ophthalmology, and special interests in cardiology so plenty of learning opportunities and a very varied caseload.
We offer some fantastic referral, OOH, and advanced services, but we equally champion our primary care vets and the fantastic service we offer for routine and first opinion caseloads.
We have a dedicated 24-hour nursing and vet team ensuring a great work-life balance.
In-house CT, hydrotherapy suite, dental suites equipped with dental X-ray, endoscopy, TPLO/TTA, laparoscopic facilities, and advanced ophthalmology equipment. Dedicated and separate cat clinic at our hospital which complements our ISFM Cat-Friendly Gold Status.
What We’re Looking For
- A confident vet with the Ability to perform exploratory laparotomies, splenectomies, GDVs, gastrotomy and enterotomy with no support required.
- Confidence with routine consults in 15 minutes and routine dental cases.
- Perform routine and non-routine surgeries with confidence and care.
- Clinical decision-making abilities, able to interpret diagnostics and make informed decisions whether you're managing consults or jumping into hands-on cases. Treatment planning and ongoing case management.
- A team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment and remains calm under pressure.
- A collaborative can-do attitude that helps maintain a positive team culture and excellent client care relationship.
