Hours: Full Time 37.5 hrs

Start Date: ASAP

Contract: Permanent (Fixed Term may be offered)

Salary: £75,646 FTE

Winston Way is a three-form entry primary school in Ilford, East London. The school caters for children from Nursery to Year 6 (3–11-year-olds) with 660 children currently on roll. The Role: We are seeking a dynamic and inspirational Vice Principal to join our exceptional senior leadership and teaching team and be the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL). The successful candidate will have a proven track record of improving standards and outcomes in schools. They will lead on safeguarding, ensuring the safety and well-being of all students, and will drive high standards of teaching and learning across the school.


We are seeking someone who will contribute to the overall success and development of our pupils, working collaboratively with colleagues and embracing United Learning’s values of ambition, determination, respect, and excellence. The Vice-Principal will play a pivotal role in driving academic excellence, improving student achievement, and ensuring that systems are in place to secure high standards across all areas of school life in partnership with the Vice-Principal for Inclusion. This is a non-class-based role but may require an element of teaching when required by the principal.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Management
  • Lead on safeguarding, ensuring a culture of vigilance and safety.
  • Drive improvements in teaching, learning, and student outcomes.
  • Support the Principal in strategic planning and school improvement.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive school culture.
  • Curriculum and Assessment
  • School Operations
  • Develop and implement policies and practices that promote high standards of behaviour and achievement.
  • Work collaboratively with staff, parents, and the wider community.


About You:

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within a school.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate staff and students.
  • Commitment to high standards and continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
