An exciting opportunity has become available for a dynamic, motivated, and enthusiastic nurse to take on the role of Ward Manager on Surgical 6, part of the STAE Care Group at the Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH).
Surgical 6 is a fast-paced, 20-bed general surgical ward, known for specialising in urology care, while also delivering high-quality treatment to patients in colorectal and general surgery (pre- and post-operative care), trauma, ITU step-downs, and medical care.
We require individuals who are determined, forward thinking, well organised and with a positive attitude towards flexibility and change. You will lead by example showing professionalism, integrity, determination and dedication, commit to team working and will have the necessary skills to support the team and drive forward.
Excellent communication skills, ability to support and empower others, a passion for working in surgery as well as proactive approach to delivery of high standards of evidence based care are essential components to this post.
You must have the ability to promote patient centred care and establish good relationships with staff, patients and families. To communicate effectively at all levels within the multi-disciplinary team and with the support of the Matron and band 6 team lead and develop the team and the service we deliver.

- To assume responsibility for the surgical ward and provide clinical leadership to the nursing team.
- To lead and develop the nursing team in the care of surgical patients and assist in the development of clinical competencies.
- To provide expert, holistic care of a high standard to both the patients and their relatives within King's College Hospital.
- To act as a clinical resource within the ward and across the Care Group as necessary.
- To be an effective clinical leader and role model with good delegation and supervisory abilities.
- To be a safe and effective practitioner able to provide patients and relatives with high quality nursing care
- To undertake managerial responsibilities ensuring staff management is safe, effective and within the assigned budget.
- Strong involvement in recruitment and retention programmes.
- To work alongside the multi-disciplinary team and ward triumvirate to enhance patient care and experience.
