Where will Next take you?
Next is one of the UK’s best known high-street retailers and most established online retailers. Behind the scenes we are at the cutting edge of Warehousing and Logistics, employing more than 7000 people across eight distribution centres.
Our success is dependent on the expertise and passion of our teams across the UK.
Life as an Assistant Site Manager at Next is full of challenges, it’s fast paced and just like fashion trends, the job is constantly evolving. We look after over 2 million customers; it takes a large, talented and efficient distribution operation to make that happen. As our online success continues to grow more than 15% year on year, a multi million pound investment plan is in place for distribution centres, it’s an exciting time to join our Warehousing management team.
Your Next Role
Running a management team of up to 10 first line team managers with circa 250 indirect Operative reports is a big task. Our largest distribution centre processes up to 600,000 units per day to our retail stores and to our customers' doors which is by no means straightforward. As an Assistant Site Manager, it’s your job to ensure that your department is operating effectively and efficiently to meet operational targets and to ensure that our customers receive their orders in line with their expectations of our brand.
As an experienced senior manager you will lead by example, driving your front line managers to perform to the highest standards. You will support their coaching and development needs every step of the way to ensure that our managers are equipped with the skills they need to motivate and manage the performance of their team members. You will work closely with your team of various characters and abilities to truly understand their triggers and motivations so that you can inspire them to be the best that they can be and to recognise their potential.
Our Warehouses are large, fast paced 24 hour operations so there will often be a need for you to make quick operational decisions and to use your initiative. Drawing on your previous management experience in a similar role, you will use your extensive operational knowledge to set achievable seasonal targets for your division, whilst ensuring that we maintain a safe working environment and high quality standards. Working closely with the Senior Management Team and Trade Unions where required, you will naturally identify and drive continuous improvements to meet our ambitious plans for the future of Next Distribution.
If you’re passionate, love never knowing what the day will bring and feel exhilarated working under pressure and to tight deadlines then this could be the Next step for you.
What’s Next?
We recognise the key to our success is our people. Through our internal training programmes, we provide continuous development opportunities to help refresh your current management abilities and to realise your career ambitions.
