Water Supply Production Operator - (2 Positions available)

Location Lumley WTW (DH3) and Mosswood WTW (DH8)
About The Role
We have a great opportunity to join our Water Supply team as a Water Supply Process Operator, ensuring we deliver great high-quality drinking water for our customers.
The successful candidate will be based at Mosswood or Lumley Water Treatment Works and will also be able support activities across the Central Area Water Supply operating group if required.
This role offers full training to support the successful candidate to complete the various technical aspects of this role. This means were seeking someone with transferrable skills which would allow them to develop into this position.
In this role you will operate the treatment process using company systems to identify trends in performance and when issues arise you will undertake fault-finding investigations.
Youll be using laboratory testing and recording results for regulatory auditing and to support decision making to optimise the treatment process. Working with chemicals and validating and calibrating instruments will be key to your role in effectively operating the treatment process.
You will support process unit cleaning, site general maintenance and cleaning tasks. This includes isolating and cleaning tanks to remove waste material.
You will be responsible for the operating plant equipment required in the sludge treatment process and will be allocated a section of the site for housekeeping and maintenance.
This role will involve lone working, making decisions that impact the treatment process and escalating issues as per NWG guidelines.
This is a flexible role operating 8am-4pm Monday to Friday however you will be required to cover shifts when the business needs for sickness and long-term absence.

About You
Communication is essential in this role therefore we seek someone who is an excellent communicator, both verbally and written. You will be a good problem-solver allowing you to respond quickly to issues, understand the problem, and identify the best solution.
We are looking for a team player who is adaptable to meet a varied workload and someone who is also comfortable working alone and outdoors with minimal supervision.
Were committed to ensuring Everyone Home Safe Everyday therefore awareness of health and safety would be advantageous.
You may have experience operating production processes including various mechanical and electrical equipment. This may include experience of using instrumentation to validate and calibrate a process is desirable but not essential.
If you are practical, pragmatic and enjoy hands-on problem solving then this could be a great role for you.
Please note a full driving licence is essential.

This role has also been defined as a safety or security critical role and as a condition of a formal offer of employment youll be required to undergo a drug and alcohol test.
