Welder / Fabricator
Alternative Heat specializes in the design, supply, and installation of a wide range of Off-site Prefabricated solutions for the commercial M&E sectors throughout Ireland the UK & Europe. Due to continued growth we wish to integrate experienced Welders into the team to support our current fabrication team. This post is a permanent position and offers great opportunities for any successful candidates who wish to gain experience within a progressive and dynamic company. The role will be based at our fabrication facility in Scarva.
Job Summary:
We are seeking self-motivated Welders experienced in TIG, MIG or MMA to weld a range of pipe configurations that will support our team of skilled Fabricators and assembly teams. The successful candidates will be required to be on site each day within the fabrication/welding facility. The Welding activities within the arrangements utilize various methods of welding, the ability to produce welds in TIG, MMA or MIG to a high standard will be required. This opportunity has the potential for successful candidates to develop and retain further skills within numerous welding, fabrication, and preparation disciplines, working from our in-house welding and inspection procedures for fabrication and welding.
Job Title - Welder/Fabricator
Location - Fabrication Facilities, Scarva.
Hours - Mon – Fri (minimum 40 up to 44 hours per week)
Salary - Competitive depending on experience
Responsible to - Fabrication Manager
Core Responsibilities of role:
- The ideal candidate will have extensive background in pipe fabrication/fit up, combined with
- competent pipe welding experience.
- Extensive experience welding MIG/TIG as priority, with MMA capability.
- High competency in different pipe fitting methods and able to produce complex pipe
- configurations using the appropriate tools.
- Candidate will have a clean history of producing X-Ray quality welds.
- To read/interpret drawings in a timely manner.
- Use of metal cutting and grinding equipment.
- Clean tools, equipment, and work areas
- Maintain a safe working environment.
- Any other duties deemed necessary by Management.
Essential Criteria:
- Welder must be able to weld in the Horizontal Fixed Position (5G) or the Horizontal Rotated
- Position (1G).
- Ideal candidate must possess the relevant qualifications in welding carbon steel pipe.
- Previous experience in MMA, MIG or TIG welding processes to high standards.
- Welder must have good experience with carbon steel pipe welding and stainless-steel pipe
- welding.
- Experience in reading, interpreting, and working too welding procedures.
- Competent using measurement instruments, Fillet gauges, pipe squares, levels etc.
- Excellent attention to detail and quality.
- Manage and discuss workload to meet project deadlines.
- The ability to use your own initiative on projects with minimal supervision.
- Always maintain a good working relationship with colleagues, whilst maintaining a high level
- of productivity.
- To undertake training in line with company standards.
- Maintain a high level of quality and safety whilst maintaining strict productivity targets.
- Responsible for highlighting any faults or damage to the machine and its tooling.
Desired Criteria:
- Heavy or structural Fabrication experience.
- Previous experience using MIG STT Root Pipe Welding by Lincoln Electric.
- Experience in the 6G welding position.
- Welding qualifications in MMA, MIG or TIG.
- Abrasive wheel training.

- The minimum contract term with us would be 2 years with extended term preferable.
You will be required to repay the total cost which does not include the 2-year upfront skills surcharge and defined CoS fee (employer only cost) by way of an agreed repayment plan.
This will be discussed and agreed with you prior to commencement of repayment.
Your duration of employment will be 2 years. There may be an opportunity to extend this further if mutually agreed by both employer and employee.
