FM Conway is currently recruiting for an experienced
Wharf Supervisor to join our Aggregate and Asphalt division. Reporting to the Business Manager, you will oversee the operations and continuous improvement of the Wharfs, as well as managing the operatives and assisting with discharging vessels. You will join us on a full time, permanent basis, managing both our Newhaven and Erith Wharfs.
The duties of the Wharf Supervisor will include:
- Efficiently operating the wharf and related fixed plant, including performing daily checks and basic maintenance
- Leading, supervising, and motivating the operations team to deliver excellence and drive continuous improvement
- Managing inventory of fuel, spare parts, and essential lubricants
- Ensuring shipping schedules are executed effectively and cost-efficiently
- Producing task specific risk assessments and implementing safe working practices to a high standard
- Overseeing and managing contractors in line with company Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures
What skills and experience do you need?
We are looking for a hands on leader with previous experience in a wharf environment. You should have a solid understanding of health and safety practices, strong commercial awareness, and a proactive mindset for continuous improvement. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential, and a full UK driving licence is required.
