Position:

Hampshire Trust Bank launched a new Structured Finance business around 3 years ago. This combined the well-established Block Discounting team, with the newer Wholesale team. Our mandate is to lend to lending businesses within the UK. Whether that business is an earlier stage lender or an established speciality and alternative finance business, we have a structured funding solution to help support the growth of their loan book.

Our Block Discounting offering can be summarised as:

  • Providing uncommitted lending facilities secured against a lenders own book of receivables.
  • We are asset class agnostic across Consumer, SME, and Property Backed lenders. If we like the business, the management team and the quality of the receivables we have a real appetite to find the best funding solution for them.
  • In addition, the team is actively developing new products to meet the changing requirements of the markets we serve.

Requirements:

  • Proven audit/risk experience with an emphasis on Block Discounting and Sub Hire
  • Familiar with security structured transactions and/or facilities.
  • Experience with Excel and using complex spreadsheets to analyse portfolio statistics.
  • Diverse knowledge of the financial, business, economic and asset funding markets
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Able to use data and conduct analysis to reach conclusions.

Other information:

As a key member of the Block Discounting team, you will be responsible for carrying out the audits on our Block customers, along with supporting our Asset Finance division with their required sub hire audits.

Specifically, your responsibilities will include:

Auditing Execution:

  • Arrange and attend Standard Field Block audits in accordance with agreed schedule.
  • Complete monthly Block remote security cover monitoring audits, obtaining security schedules from Block customers and updating monthly performance results
  • Arrange and attend Standard Field Sub Hire audits in line with Asset Finance requirements
  • Request replacement paper when required (for Block customers).
  • Support portfolio management by obtaining any information needed while attending audits.

Team Strategy and Management:

  • Contribute towards the strategy for the team as it seeks to establish itself in the market.
  • Help develop and manage the teams mandate, its processes and infrastructure.
  • Provide tactical thinking, executive level reporting and support and effective business planning.
  • Participates in cross team collaboration projects around business and product development and strategic priorities.
  • Meet required Audit timescales through pro-active planning.
  • Prepare customer submitted reports.
  • Prepare audit findings and circulate in form of audit report.
  • Arrange and execute Preliminary audits when requested by the Director of Block.
  • Note and act on issues raised from audit reports.
