We have a well-established team which is responsible for supporting the development of the social work and social care workforce. The team design, deliver and procure of a wide range of high-quality learning and organisational development interventions to ensure all statutory registration and qualifications, mandatory training (including child and adult protection), practice learning and student placement coordination, corporate parenting learning and any service specific or local requirements are in place to support over 3000 staff.


Your role is to co-ordinate, design, deliver and procure learning and development activity linked with the SSSC Newly Qualified Social Worker (NQSW) Supported Year programme across Children’s, Justice and Adult Services.


The role will involve a range of tasks, including engagement with NQSW, supervisors and services, the creation of digital resources, facilitation of relevant reflective forums, the collation of evaluation /workforce data to evidence progress and ongoing liaison with relevant SSSC colleagues.

Based within the HR Workforce Strategy & Organisational Development Team, this is a great opportunity for an experienced and motivated individual to develop their professional career in the field of learning & development by working alongside E&CS and HSCP colleagues.

The Person


Educated to Degree level, you will have substantial experience of working within social work services and preferably experience of co-ordinating a NQSW SY programme and a Practice Teaching qualification, with some experience of contributing to workforce learning & organisational development.


You will have effective communication skills, display strong organisational and time management skills and the ability to influence and challenge. The capacity to use these skills to work collaboratively and create strong relationships at all levels is essential.


You will have experience of working on your own initiative and as part of a wider team, which is focussed on delivering outcomes. With a commitment to self-development and a focus on emerging trends, you will be a self-starter who is passionate about making a difference.

It is essential that you have a qualification that would allow registration with the SSSC and have experience of working in social work or a social care setting.


We are currently shaping our future workstyles however, in light of current advice, we are introducing blended home/office working that will include office access days each week with homeworking for the remainder of your working time.
