We are looking for a Works Manager to join our Infrastructure Roads team on our A428/Black Cat roundabout project.
The successful Works Manager will be supported by a Senior Works Manager and sectional management team. You are expected to take ownership and lead site supervisory requirements for the offline section of works, which includes significant elements of earthworks, piling, FRC, drainage and new road construction.
This is a key role where you will be accountable for leading and directing the sectional supervisors, including Senior General Foreman, General Foreman and Foreman to plan, coordinate and deliver the safe management of all operations activities, ensuring safety, environmental, programme and budget requirements are met.
What you'll do:
- As the Senior Manager interfacing with the workforce, you will need to ensure all operatives are fully inducted / briefed on the safety management system and are fully competent to deliver works in a safe manner.
- Ensure the coordination of and communication between all parts of the operational team including Suppliers, Contractors, Engineering, Safety and Environmental team and Clients’ team.
- Build and develop the team to deliver all aspects of the project requirements; identify training requirements and review the performance of the workforce.
- Provide, monitor and control labour plant and materials to meet the programme.
- Manage General Foreman, Foreman, Contractors and direct workforce in line with project requirements.
- Ensure that all works meet the specification requirements on the project
- Assist engineering team with working method and outputs for production of method statements and programme.
What you'll bring to the role:
- NVQ Level 4 or above
- Effective written and verbal communication skills to diverse audiences.
- Understanding of engineering principles.
- Competence with digital tools.
- Formal training in Health & Safety and Environmental management (SMSTS minimum)
- Relevant CSCS Card
- A knowledge Works Manager role with exposure to National Highways infrastructure projects
- Recent working history with major infrastructure projects
