BTV operates within the 54Group, an international sports and entertainment agency working across five regions and eight offices. 54 is built on three service areas – Strategic Advisory, Asset Optimisation, and Activation & Engagement – and collaborates with leading rights holders, brands, and investors to realise the power of sport.
ROLE OVERVIEW:
This role’s primary function is to act as the lead 3D Designer on all spatial, scenic, and experiential design requirements for Behind The Volt’s sports and entertainment clients. You will be responsible for concept development, technical drawings, and high-quality 3D renders that bring event environments to life.
Working closely with cross-functional teams, clients, and suppliers, you will ensure seamless creative execution and technical accuracy across a wide range of event applications - from immersive fan zones and podium builds to digital broadcast environments and on-camera activations. The ideal candidate will bring a strong mix of spatial creativity, branding acumen, and technical design skills across both print and digital spheres.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Creative Asset Development:- 3D modelling, rendering, and motion walkthroughs
- Mood boards, look & feel decks, and visual storyboards
- Realistic visualisations for pitch, approval, and execution
- Brand integration into event environments
Event Environment & Technical Design (including but not limited to):- Stage, hospitality, and activation zone designs
- Venue layouts and technical drawings for build teams
- Digital surface mapping and laser integration mock-ups
- Podium and presentation scenography
- Broadcast set visualisations and camera-visible elements
- Lighting and effects pre-visualisations
Collaboration & Project Management:- Liaison with client teams on design expectations and approvals
- Cross-team collaboration with operations, commercial, and marketing leads
- Internal sign-off of visual assets for quality and accuracy
- Supplier communication on materials, build feasibility, and installation references
- Lead creative conversations and guide junior designers as needed
SPECIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/APTITUDES NEEDED:
- Proficiency in 3D modelling software, ideally Unreal Engine (for high-fidelity, real-time visualisation), SketchUp, or Blender, Maya, 3ds Max, ZBrush (Experience in Unreal is desirable but not essential; proficiency in one or more modern 3D tools is key).
- Familiarity with CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD or Vectorworks) for producing technical layouts, including dimensions, specifications, and build materials.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) for visual storytelling, pitch decks, and design collateral.
- Understanding of how to import CAD files into 3D modeling tools (e.g. importing 2D CAD into SketchUp for 3D modeling).
- Ability to interpret hand-drawn sketches and transform them into professional renders suitable for client presentations.
- Ability to design across both print and digital platforms
- Strong spatial awareness and visual storytelling skills
- Knowledge of live event production, materials, and temporary structures
- Eye for detail, brand integrity, and spatial creativity
- Comfortable in high-pressure, fast-paced environments
- Passion for innovative technology in event design
- Experience in large-scale sports, live events, exhibitions, or broadcast environments
