We have an exciting opportunity for an Academic Skills Tutor for the Foundation Year Pathways to join the School of Human and Health Sciences. We welcome applications from candidates with experience in providing academic skills support or education to adult learners in health and/or social care but will consider other relevant sectors/subject areas.
This role provides an excellent opportunity to work within a University and School with a well-established reputation for excellence in teaching and research and will make a significant contribution to further enhancing our teaching and support of students.
Your role will be to work with the existing academic skills tutors and academic staff working primarily on the Foundation Year pathways. You will offer support and encouragement to students to enable them to excel academically and improve grades. You will provide support for individuals and groups both face to face and online. Support will include:
- Academic writing including essays, reflections, and critical appraisals;
- General academic skills including time management, presentations, group work skills and examination preparation;
- Information literacy and critical analysis;
- Qualitative and quantitative research methods;
- Academic self-efficacy.
