We have an exciting opportunity for an Accessories Engineer to join the technical team at XLCC. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, the successful applicant will be supporting the Sales and Tender team by providing accessories designs and documentation, as well as providing manufacturing cost (accessories and other relevant items).
We would love to hear from people with a background in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering that are looking to undertake a new role in a new export led green industry that is enabling the transition to green energy.
The role will initially be on a remote basis, and will move into our offices in Kilmarnock by the end of the year when these are officially open.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
General:
- Design of accessories
- Support follow up production, testing, delivery and installation of accessories for cable system
- Preparation and verification of drawings and documentation
- Coordinate internal and external interfaces
- Participate in research and development of new technologies
- Participate in tender work
- Perform DIC and IDC
- Participate in training of new personnel
- Contribute to engineering process improvements (standardization of engineering process and documents/drawings)
Tender specific:
- Read through customer specifications
- Work out technical documents, cost calculation sheets and clarification lists for tenders
- Assemble all the technical inputs from different departments and present it for the sales and tender department
- Participate in internal tender meetings with factory organization and test laboratories as required
- Participate in kick off meetings and internal risk meetings
- Participate in external tender meetings with potential customers
- Perform budgetary tenders and minor studies
- Perform DIC/IDC on technical documents work out by other tender engineers
Qualifications and Experience:
Qualifications & Knowledge
- MSc or Bachelors degree in electrical or mechanical engineering
- Preferably knowledge of high voltage cable accessories design and manufacturing processes
Experience
- Preferably knowledge of HVAC or HVDC cable and accessories design
- Preferably knowledge of finite element analysis tools – electrical, thermal, mechanical, electro-magnetic.
