We are seeking an analytical and proactive Finance partner to support our Commercial team. You will own the delivery of timely commercial margin reporting and period-end controls while acting as a bridge between Finance and the Buying teams. Your focus will be on turning data into insight, highlighting trends, challenging assumptions on forecasts, and driving actions that improve commercial performance and profitability.
Responsibilities:
Reporting & Performance Analysis
- Prepare timely and accurate weekly and periodic commercial margin reporting, clearly summarising performance and highlighting key drivers of variances
- Develop and maintain reporting tools that enhance visibility of commercial KPIs and facilitate proactive decision-making.
Insight, Business Partnering & Opportunity Identification
- Produce insightful commercial analysis (e.g. loss-making lines, cost price increases, market price movements) to inform pricing decisions, trading actions, and commercial strategy
- Act as a trusted partner to the Commercial Finance team, category managers, buyers, and senior stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities for margin improvement, or risk mitigation, turning analytical findings into clear actions.
- Support business partners by providing insight and highlighting trends, challenging assumptions, validating forecasts, and holding owners accountable for delivery of agreed actions.
- Support on adhoc projects aligned to the Commercial strategy
Budgeting, Forecasting & Consolidation
- Support on the consolidation of commercial budgets, forecasts and outturns, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with financial targets.
- Review outputs to identify anomalies or deviations from expectations, providing challenge and clarification where required.
Period-End Responsibilities
- Manage assigned period-end duties including ownership of the Commercial Head Office Non-people costs P&L.
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations related to commercial areas, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely resolution of issues.
About You
We need a Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent) with a strong commercial mindset and a proven track record in a business partnering role. This is an important position requiring an individual who is ready to take ownership, drive change, and operate with a high degree of autonomy.
