Role Summary

  • Responsibilities: By stepping into the Accounts Assistant role at Costello Medical, you will support with a wide range of financial tasks and processes to ensure the smooth operation of our global financial functions
  • Salary: £25,000 to £29,000 per annum, depending on your previous experience

About the Role

As an Accounts Assistant at Costello Medical, you will play a key role within our Finance team, supporting with a wide range of financial tasks and processes to ensure the smooth operation of our global financial functions. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills across various areas of finance, including sales and purchase ledger, enabling you to take initiative and proactively shape the role as it evolves.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Processing supplier invoices, credit card transactions, and internal expenses
  • Book-keeping across all group companies using AIQ, Rapport3, and Concur
  • Supporting financial reporting and data reconciliation activities
  • Advising our scientific teams on expense management and invoicing procedures
  • Identifying and suggesting improvements to financial and administrative systems
  • Assisting with general financial duties such as budgeting, forecasting, and month-end processes
  • Projecting a positive image of the Finance team and actively seeking to reduce the administrative burden placed on others

You will receive comprehensive one-to-one training from experienced team members, learning about the technical aspects of the role and effective project management.

Requirements

About You

We are looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious individual who is proactive, eager to embrace new challenges, and capable of providing high-quality support to our Finance team. You will enjoy developing, refining, and taking ownership of internal financial processes as the company continues to grow. You will also enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, learning about all aspects of our internal systems and directly contributing to the improvement of our Finance function.

Essential requirements for the role are:

  • At least one year of experience working in a finance-related role
  • Experience supporting various areas of finance, such as ledger management, reconciliations, and financial reporting
  • Excellent numerical skills and a strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build robust and sustainable working relationships
  • Exceptional organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
  • An ability to plan and manage your own workload, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively with others
  • An interest in, and aptitude for, mastering new systems and internal processes
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications, particularly the VLOOKUP and pivot table functions in Excel

Desired requirements for the role are:

  • Completion of, or working towards, an AAT Level 3 qualification or an equivalent industry-standard financial qualification
  • Practical experience using the Rapport3 and AccountsIQ platforms, as well as an understanding of other financial systems

The Application Process

You are required to submit your CV and a cover letter via our online application form. In your cover letter, you must explain why you think you would be suited to the role and why you would like to join Costello Medical, with examples to support both.

Our recruitment process then begins with a telephone interview conducted by a member of the Talent Acquisition team. If successful, you will be invited to an interview in our office with senior members of the Finance team, which also includes a collaborative assessment. Our standard recruitment process lasts around 3 to 4 weeks, however, this can be adapted if necessary.
