Accounts Payable Supervisor

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accounts Payable Specialist to lead our AP operations and drive continuous improvement across the function. This role will oversee a team of four and play a key part in delivering process optimisation, workflow automation, and successful implementation of new finance systems, including invoice automation tools and ERP enhancements.

The ideal candidate combines strong AP expertise with proven experience in automation, transformation projects, and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Operations

• Manage and mentor a team of 4 AP clerks, ensuring high performance, accuracy, and compliance.
• Oversee end-to-end AP processing, including invoice coding, approvals, payments, query resolution, and supplier reconciliations.
• Ensure adherence to internal controls, company policies, and audit requirements.
• Provide ongoing training, development, and coaching to team members.

Process Improvement & Automation

• Lead the implementation of invoice automation and workflow tools.
• Identify process inefficiencies and deliver solutions that enhance accuracy, reduce manual work, and increase productivity.
• Champion continuous improvement initiatives across the AP function.
• Partner with IT and finance leadership to evaluate and integrate new technologies.

Systems & ERP Implementation

• Support and co-lead ERP projects, including system upgrades, new module rollouts, and configuration changes affecting AP.
• Act as the AP subject-matter expert during testing, UAT, and implementation phases.
• Document processes, build SOPs, and ensure strong adoption across the AP team.

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Work closely with procurement, finance, and operational teams to improve end-to-end P2P processes.
• Build strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure efficient issue resolution and smooth payment cycles.
• Provide senior-level reporting on AP metrics, KPIs, and project progress.

Skills & Experience Required

• 4+ years’ experience in Accounts Payable, with at least 1–2 years in a senior or supervisory role.
• Proven experience managing and developing AP teams.
• Demonstrated involvement in invoice automation or process transformation projects.
• ERP implementation or system-upgrade experience (SAP, Oracle, Netsuite, or similar).
• Strong understanding of P2P cycles, controls, and best practices.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to streamline and improve processes.
• Excellent communication skills and stakeholder-management abilities.
• Strong Excel skills and familiarity with automation tools (e.g., Basware, Coupa, Medius, Yooz, etc.).
