The role:
The role of Group Products (“the Division”) is to develop and oversee the suite of products and services available to clients of St. James's Place, ensuring they are fairly priced, support business growth and deliver good client outcomes.
The main purpose of the role is to provide actuarial expertise and product technical support to both stakeholders across the SJP Group and on Divisional projects.
What you'll be doing:
- Provide product technical and actuarial support to the SJP Group, including the Partnership, on areas such as Capital Gains Tax calculations, Critical Yield Calculations, product functionality, illustrations and other calculations.
- Provide support to Actuarial Managers, Actuarial Consultants and different Leads across the Division who may be leading projects or project workstreams. Example projects may include implementation of enhancements to our investment proposition, annual charges reporting to clients or annual reviews of manufactured products.
- Carry out checking of the work of Actuarial Analysts and provide them with guidance and support.
- Maintain product documentation and our suite of advice tools to auditable standards.
- Ensure the accuracy of Illustrations, terms and conditions, advice tools and product documentation.
- Provide figures and analysis to support business decisions.
Who we're looking for:
We're looking for a detail-oriented and supportive professional with strong analytical and communication skills. The ideal candidate will collaborate across teams, provide clear technical guidance, ensure accuracy in product information, and mentor others while contributing valuable insights to business decisions.
Essential Criteria
- Degree in a numerate or analytical subject (e.g. Maths, Economics, Engineering, Physics, Actuarial Science), preferably grade 2:1 or above.
- Must be a part-qualified actuary with financial services and/or commercial experience (not strictly UK experience, consider other regions).
- Proven understanding of key actuarial concepts such as financial projections and modelling.
- Foundational knowledge of Excel and other IT skills, with some coding knowledge (e.g. VBA, R, Python).
Desirable Criteria
- A strong track record of delivery with a "can do" attitude.
- Good interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with the Partnership and colleagues from across the business.
Special Requirements:
- Commitment to continue progress through the actuarial exams with the aim of qualifying as a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries. An enjoyment of study and the ability to self-manage your time are important
- This role is based in Cirencester- we operate a hybrid working approach, with an expectation to attend the office regularly.
