An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen in the North Wales Bone Densitometry Service for an Osteoporosis Specialist Pharmacist
The Specialist Pharmacist will be a secondment for 5 months.
Band 8a – 15 hours per week (4 sessions)
The North Wales Bone Unit have had a prolonged absence of a consultant for the past 3 years and we are currently in the process of working with Rheumatology for the formation of a joint Rheumatology and bone consultant. This is likely to take an average of 6 months. In view of this we are looking to recruit additional staff to cover the shortage. Hence we are recommending the formation of a temporary post to cover the shortfall with a pharmacist with a special interest in bone.

Main duties of the job
We're looking for a motivated and proactive pharmacist to join our multidisciplinary team. In this rewarding role, you'll make a real difference to patients at risk of osteoporosis and fragility fractures by optimising their treatment and supporting their recovery.
You'll work closely with colleagues in the bone unit, orthogeriatrics and rheumatology, contributing your expertise to ensure safe, effective, and evidence-based prescribing. From reviewing complex medication regimens to supporting the development of local guidelines and delivering education sessions to staff, this is a varied role with real scope to shape care pathways and improve outcomes.

Qualifications And/or Knowledge
Essential criteria
- MPharm degree or equivalent
- Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Post Graduate MSc/Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent experience and/or qualifications
Desirable criteria
- Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society & registration with the Faculty
- Accredited or eligible to be accredited as a Higher Education Institute Clinical Pharmacy diploma/MSc tutor
- Training qualification Leadership and/or management qualification
- Non-medical prescribing qualification (or working towards)
Experience
Essential criteria
- Must be able to demonstrate suitable level of experience working in the managed sector and/or community pharmacy
Desirable criteria
- Experience in relevant clinical area
- Leadership and management experience
