The salary scale above has been agreed as part of the NHS Agenda for Change pay award for 2025/2026 and will be implemented in August 2025 with arrears backdated to 1st April 2025 where applicable.

Job Overview

The post holder must be a Registered Nurse and is therefore bound by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code of Professional Conduct for Nurses, Midwifes and Health Visitors. Working alongside Annex 21

Main duties of the job

  • Perform as a clinical expert in the recognition and initial management of the deteriorating patient, to prevent further deterioration which may lead to a respiratory or cardiac event/arrest.
  • Provide clinical leadership to nursing staff and professional advice to other healthcare professionals, patients and carers.
  • Lead on and support educational strategies, programmes, audit and national recommendations to enhance the care of deteriorating or critically ill patients within the Health Board.
  • Participate in the monitoring and setting of standards of care and guidelines by incorporating evidence based practice and current research.
  • Facilitate the professional development of the nursing staff working within the team

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Experience in a registered nurse role
  • Evidence of leadership skills
  • Administration of IV medication

Desirable criteria

  • Demonstration of computer literacy
  • Advanced communication skills

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Registered 1st Level Nurse
  • Current NMC Registration
  • MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice

Desirable criteria

  • Teaching Qualification
  • Independent Prescriber or willingness to become a non-medical prescriber
