This role is to be an integral part of the Acute and Community Podiatry Team and to bridge the gap between the two teams.
At
Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, our dynamic Podiatry Service is made up of three specialist teams:
- Empowerment Team – Triage and First Contact
- Community Podiatry – Foot Protection, At-Risk Foot, Nail Surgery, and Rheumatology
- Acute Team – Diabetic Foot MDT, Vascular, Renal, F-Scan and Offloading Clinics

The postholder will contribute to the development and delivery of care-plans for patients with, or at extreme risk of, active foot disease. This care will be provided in in-patient, out-patient and community settings, on behalf of the Consultant led multi-disciplinary team.
The role requires excellent teamworking to be an effective member of the foot protection team, working collaboratively with:
- Community / Acute Podiatrists
- Diabetologists (Consultants, Registrar, and trainee staff)
- Microbiologists
- Community and Acute Podiatrists
- Diabetes Nurse Specialists
- Orthotists
- Vascular Surgeons
- Orthopaedic / Podiatric Surgeons
- Vascular Nurse Specialists
- General Practitioners
- Practice / Community Nurses
- Patients, relatives & representative groups
- Risk Management Team
- Research Development Facilitator
- Infection Control team.
