Description
Why join us?

We are recruiting for full time Advocates to join our nationwide Advocacy team, to be based out of our Liverpool or Manchester, Leeds, London and Birmingham.

DWF Chambers is an expert, quality, streamlined advocacy service, operating as an alternative to the external Bar and traditional chambers. Operating as an in-house set of chambers, DWF’s barristers and advocates offer specialist advocacy, drafting and advisory services across a variety of specialisms such as Commercial, Fraud, Occupational Health & Disease, Catastrophic Injury, Professional Indemnity, Employment, Costs and Inquests.

The team comprises 33 individuals based across a number of our UK DWF offices including Birmingham, Manchester, London and Leeds. Work typically arises as a result of referrals from legal colleagues but also direct client relationships.

Responsibilities

This role is exclusively advocacy-based and priority will be given to those with previous experience of advocacy in personal injury and commercial insurance. The successful candidate can expect to be in court most days, conducting hearings.

You will conduct small claims hearings, Stage 3 disposals, interlocutory hearings, costs and case management conferences, applications and final hearings for which you have the necessary rights of audience. Instructions will initially be largely insurance litigation with a focus on personal injury.

DWF Chambers has a dedicated clerking team to manage your diary. Whilst every effort is made to ensure that travel is minimised, the nature of the role is such that you may be required to attend hearings across the country, potentially involving overnight stays.

What will help you succeed in this role?

Essential

  • Law degree and/or Graduate Diploma in Law with minimum grade 2:1;
  • Bar Vocational Course or Bar Professional Training Course with minimum grade Very Competent;

Desirable

  • Previous advocacy experience
  • Experience in civil litigation with a focus on personal injury and commercial insurance

If you are looking to develop and grow your professional expertise and enhance your career in a legal business that isn't afraid to challenge the norm and go beyond expectations then apply!

What we offer?

We are committed to ensuring that each member of our team feels valued and duly rewarded during their time at DWF.

We are an equal opportunities employer that celebrates diversity and we are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all. We aim to create a positive experience for all candidates and offer any adjustments or additional support needed. If you're excited about the opportunity but your experience doesn’t align perfectly with all the requirements, please apply anyway. You may be the right candidate for the role or others across the wider team.
