AI Governance Lead

About the Role
We’re seeking an experienced and forward-thinking AI Governance Lead to join a global organisation at a pivotal moment in its digital transformation. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of AI compliance and governance across a multi-entity international group.
You’ll work at the intersection of legal, compliance, and emerging AI technologies, playing a key role in defining responsible AI practices, guiding legal strategy, and leading governance initiatives across multiple jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement group-wide AI governance frameworks and legal standards.
- Lead cross-functional efforts to define how AI will be applied within legal and operational teams.
- Coordinate the design and rollout of AI-related training programmes across the business.
- Chair the AI Governance Committee and own the long-term governance roadmap.
- Set compliance standards and usage policies for AI across all group companies.
- Collaborate with internal legal teams, HR, technology, and external law firms.
What We’re Looking For
- A background in Data & AI Governance or a qualified legal professional (e.g. Legal Counsel, or DPO) with strong interest or experience in AI governance.
- Background in AI-related compliance, risk, or legal advisory—either in-house or through a consultancy/law firm.
- Strong knowledge of data protection, technology law, and AI ethics.
- Proficiency using AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT) in a legal or regulated environment.
- Confident communicator and leader with experience managing cross-border initiatives.
- Based in or near London, with flexibility to travel within Europe.
