AML Manager

Are you an AML professional looking for your next challenge in a dynamic, fast paced environment? We're looking for an AML Manager to join our growing firm. You'll be a key member of our Risk & Compliance team and the role can be based from either our Newcastle or Leeds office.

Our Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Manager is a senior role with responsibility for leading, developing and overseeing the operational performance of our client onboarding team with responsibility for all aspects of AML, client due diligence (CDD) and sanctions compliance. As an AML Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with these financial crime regulations and fostering a culture of integrity and risk management within the team and wider firm.

What will I be doing?

• Provide the Firm with technical AML, Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF), Proliferation Financing (PF) and sanctions compliance advice.
• Provide the Risk and Compliance team with support and be an escalation route for more complex cases.
• You will work and collaborate closely with the Client Matter Take-On Committee and MLCO to ensure effective management of AML matters.
• Be the main point of contact across the firm and fee earning departments for anything related to onboarding queries, AML sanctions and compliance including the level of CDD requirements and risk assessments.
• Be responsible for a small team of individuals within the Risk and Compliance team.
• Develop and continue to review an AML and Sanctions training programme which would be available to all fee earning departments and the firm's business service support functions.
• Assist in the formulation and implementation of AML and Sanctions policies and procedures.
• Assist the firm's MLRO with the preparation of suspicious activity reports and, with any other AML / Sanctions related concerns.

You'll have:

• Experience in AML and CTF sanctions.
• Although not essential, it would be beneficial if you have / want to gain experience working with both MLRO and MLCO roles and, have an eagerness to develop in those areas with the potential of deputising for those roles – please note that this is open to discussions during the interview process.
• It would be beneficial if you have a recognised AML / Compliance qualification, or a law, criminology or financial crime related degree.
• Working knowledge of legal and regulatory obligations, for example, AML regulations, LSAG, SRA, POCA and CFT.
• People management experience.
• The ability to make compliant decisions and manage the firm's risks effectively, with support from the wider Risk and Compliance and General Counsel teams.
• Have excellent attention to detail, be analytical in thinking and have good problem solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills with good stakeholder management experience and the ability to work in a fast-past, ever changing environment.
