ALS Laboratories are looking for a Laboratory Analyst Grade 1 to support their Potable Chemistry department at ALS Wakefield. Laboratory Analysts require a good mix of skills.
The person will be responsible for ensuring procedures are followed to effectively and accurately test samples, and record results. The right candidate will have a keen eye for detail, and be able to closely follow instructions. This role would be a great starting point for somebody looking to begin their career in Environmental Sciences!
The successful applicant will get hands-on experience with available instruments in the laboratory. They will be trained in various inorganic chemistry methods such as gravimetry, pH and electrical conductivity measurement, colourimetry, automated techniques such as ion chromatography and continuous flow.

Role
Hours Per Week: Negotiable - minimum of 18 hours per week
Days Per Week: 3 days per week over Wednesday - Saturday
Contract: Part Time 12-month Fixed Term
Key Responsibilities
- Understand customer requirements.
- Ensure samples are completed efficiently and effectively following all process, procedures, and legislation.
- Deliver on key performance indicators, assisting team members to achieve work objectives.
- Report analytical data.
- Participate in the Taste and Odour panel on a rotational basis following screening.
- Proactively ensure compliance with Health and Safety policies and procedures
About You
- Qualifications required are 5 GCSEs at Grade C (equivalent to new Grade 4) or above to include Science, Maths and English and an A level or equivalent in scientific subject.
