We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Transport Planning Administrator Apprentice to join our Chepstow team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to start a career in logistics and transport planning. You will receive on-the-job training allowing you to acquire valuable skills and experience, as well as a nationally recognised qualification.
This apprenticeship offers a comprehensive dive into the world of transport planning. You'll gain hands-on experience and develop vital skills across a wide range of areas. You’ll work closely with our experienced transport planners and wider operations team to support the smooth running of our delivery schedules and customer communications.
Working hours: Monday - Friday 08:00 - 17:00.
What You'll Be Doing (and Learning!):
- Delivery Bookings: Liaise with customers and consignees to book deliveries in and confirm time slots.
- Customer Interaction: Act as a key point of contact for inbound calls and customer queries. Ensure high levels of professionalism and responsiveness.
- Schedule Support: Assist transport planners with creating and updating daily schedules and route plans.
- Communication: Provide timely updates to internal teams and customers on delivery statuses, changes, or delays.
- Phone & Admin Support: Answer incoming calls and route them as necessary. Record key information and escalate urgent matters.
- Financial Administration: Support with invoicing, cost tracking, and processing transport-related charges and PODs.
- Data Entry: Maintain accurate records in transport management systems and spreadsheets.
- Team Support: Provide general administrative assistance to the transport planning team and wider logistics operation.
What We’re Looking For:
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Confident phone manner and ability to build rapport with customers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel, Outlook).
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above) preferred.
