Architect (Functional), Professional Services
The Guidewire Professional Services organization includes business analysts, functional consultants, and technical integration consultants who work together to help customer and SI vendors to implement Guidewire applications at customer sites. Our projects are complex and can last from three months to two years depending on the specific customer requirements. During a project, the team will identify customer business requirements, identify solutions leveraging OOTB capabilities coupled with configuration to meet those requirements, and integrate the Guidewire application to other internal or external systems.
Guidewire consultants are expected to spend up to 50% of their time on-site with the customer business and technical teams. Albeit this role is primarily for the region but there may be an opportunity to work in other regions that Guidewire operates in.
Guidewire applications are highly configurable to the requirements of each customer and require a thorough understanding of the objectives and requirements of the customer.

To be considered you should have a combination of experience & skills in the following:
- 5+ years of relevant experience in implementing enterprise software solutions within complex project environments
- Ability to design, estimate and deliver solutions for medium complexity product gaps and enhancements
- Proven track record of leading functional / technical areas on implementation projects
- Ability and experience in communicating effectively with customers, partners and team members at the project leadership level
- Substantial experience using agile methodologies along with a familiarity with object-oriented design principles and databases.
- Consulting & Leadership Skills along with industry knowledge of the P&C insurance industry with a focus on policy and/or underwriting
- Ability to handle project management tasks (Scope Control, Estimating, Budgeting and Resource Management)
- Interest and ability to travel as needed
- Curiosity based on genuine love of technology and solving tough technical problems
- Strong object oriented design, development and test skills with proven patterns knowledge, exceptional documentation skills, and the ability to communicate your thought process
- JAVA, J2EE, JMS, JDBC OR C#, .NET experience – we do facilitate a technical test as part of the selection process
- Hands-on scripting/programming/configuration capability in a multi-tier web application environment including conducting peer code reviews
- Strong personal initiative and ability to personally execute with minimal oversight

Key Responsibilities
- Take technical responsibility for all stages in the software development process for a functional area
- Design, configure, test, correct, and document large complex programs and application modifications from supplied specifications using agreed standards and tools to achieve a well engineered result
- Participate in work product reviews
- Conduct peer code reviews to ensure optimization of base features and adherence to Guidewire bet practices
- Learn and master your assigned Guidewire product in order to become a configuration resource and achieve Guidewire certification as a Subject Matter Expert
- Consult with insurance carrier business and technical resources to produce business requirements and functional design documents
- Partner with client business teams to understand business objectives and integration requirements using both business and technical skills
- Estimate the effort required to configure the software
- Coach and mentor junior team members on more complex Guidewire functionality and reinforces best practices
- Provide exemplary service, technical advice, and guidance to ensure use of base features and best practices
