About this opportunity
We’re excited to announce a range of new opportunities across all areas of our Digital Innovation Team. As we embark on an ambitious journey of digital transformation, there’s never been a better time to get involved.
We’re looking for talented individuals to help shape the future of our organisation.
Come be a part of a dynamic, forward-thinking team that’s driving real change.
As part of our strategic commitment to innovation and digital transformation, we’re excited to be recruiting for a new Artificial Intelligence (AI) Officer to join the Digital Innovation Team at Westmorland and Furness Council.
AI has been identified as a key priority both nationally and locally, and we’re developing a programme of work that will explore, implement, and scale AI solutions to improve services and create better outcomes for our communities.
As an AI Officer, you’ll play an important role in delivering our AI Programme — helping to coordinate activities, support the delivery of pilot projects, and contribute to shaping how AI is used across the organisation. You’ll work closely with stakeholders from across all Directorates, ensuring our work aligns with service needs and supports wider organisational goals.
This is a unique opportunity to help turn emerging technologies into practical, meaningful improvements for residents, while contributing to the delivery of our Customer Strategy and Digital Ambition.
Who we are looking for…
We’re looking for someone who is curious, motivated, and confident working with a wide range of stakeholders. You don’t need to be a technical AI expert — but you should have a good understanding of how digital technologies can support service delivery, strong organisational skills, and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
Experience of supporting projects or programmes, managing competing priorities, and working in a collaborative, cross-functional environment will be important.
This is a great opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in digital innovation, with a particular interest in emerging technology and its role in public services. If you're excited about the potential of AI to improve outcomes and want to be part of a team shaping the future of local government, we’d love to hear from you.
