Asset Investment Senior Engineer - Shrinkage

Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for technical excellence? Cadent, the UK's largest gas distribution network, is seeking an Asset Strategy Senior Engineer to play a pivotal role in shaping the long-term investment and strategic direction of our network.

You will be responsible for managing Cadent’s Shrinkage gas processes and associated obligations and Licence conditions to support business and asset investment planning. Your work will shape key outcomes and drive the evolution of the UK's gas infrastructure, ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of our services whilst navigating a complex regulatory landscape.

• Make a Meaningful Impact: Play a key role in managing Cadent’s shrinkage processes, directly contributing to environmental sustainability and regulatory excellence.
• Lead with Innovation: Shape the future of emissions reporting and strategic modelling tools, driving technical innovation across the business.
• Empower Decision-Makers: Use your analytical expertise to deliver insights that influence senior leaders, regulators, and investors – your work will truly matter.
• Drive Industry Change: Be at the forefront of regulatory engagement, helping to shape policies and identify opportunities for impactful business transformation.
• Collaborate Across Boundaries: Work with diverse teams and external partners, including other Gas Distribution Networks, to share knowledge and set industry standards.
• Own Commercial Strategy: Take charge of the full lifecycle of shrinkage gas procurement from tendering to contract management – bringing commercial strategy to life.

• Qualifications – Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience. Incorporated Engineer or recognised Asset Management certification desirable. Chartered status preferred.
• Experience – Proven track record in asset management and investment planning for complex engineering assets.
• Skills – Strategic thinker, strong communicator, and effective collaborator with excellent influencing skills.
• Technical Expertise – Ability to analyse and interpret complex technical and data to form insights and recommendations.
• Business Acumen – Understanding of UK energy systems, RIIO regulatory framework, and commercial processes particularly for gas procurement.
