Asset Strategy Lead - Wastewater
Location: Brighton, Falmer Hybrid working
Perm/FTC: Permanent
Hours: 37 hrs
Salary: Up to £61k based on experience
Southern Water are recruiting for a brand-new role in Wastewater Asset, Strategy & Planning.
As the Asset Strategy lead you will develop asset strategies that enable Southern Water to deliver its service commitments safely and legally over the long-term. This role will identify strategic options that deliver the best mix of operational, maintenance and capital investment to reach outcomes, challenging constraints and identifying opportunities.
You will embed the outcomes of analysis into the business to enable asset management best practice and integrated plan production.
Asset strategies, and associated long-term plans, shall be developed in consultation with a full range of internal and external stakeholders, driving the use of evidence-based decision making. The role will deploy systems thinking in the holistic analysis of water/wastewater and aid understanding of the interdependence of both Southern Water’s systems and the systems of wider society, developing strategies that deliver maximum benefit.
As this is a newly created position you will have the opportunity to make this role your own and use your previous experience within Asset Strategy to drive the plans forward. You will report to the Asset Strategy Manager and work closely together.
You will be at the forefront of collaborating with your asset strategy counterparts within Water to bring a streamlined and joined up approach developing the strategy and plan to develop our business plan, so experience with liaising with high profile regulators is highly advantageous
You Will Have
Asset management experience, Investment Planning experience, experience of water and wastewater or infrastructure industries.

- Demonstrate an understanding of company drivers, outputs and serviceability targets, the Water Industry regulatory framework and OFWAT’s business model.
- Apply understanding and experience of industry success factors, regulatory and legal obligations and horizon scanning of upcoming challenges / opportunities.
- Apply experience of whole life cost econometrics and asset deterioration models.
- Demonstrate a high level of initiative and self-motivation.
- Show a high level of numeracy and literacy with attention to detail
- Present and, effectively communicate findings and actionable insight proposals.
