Assistant Accountant

Who We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone that is interested in developing an understanding of the products and services that Schroders provides and can support revenue and cost accounting processes for several of our business areas. You will be involved in producing revenue and cost analysis packs along with performing several accounting processes which allow our revenues and costs to be recognised and reported for the month.

About Schroders

We’re a global investment manager. We help institutions, intermediaries and individuals around the world invest money to meet their goals, fulfil their ambitions, and prepare for the future.

We have around 6,000 people on six continents. And we’ve been around for over 200 years, but keep adapting as society and technology changes. What doesn’t change is our commitment to helping our clients, and society, prosper.

The base

We moved into our new HQ in the City of London in 2018. We’re close to our clients, in the heart of the UK’s financial centre and we have everything we need to work flexibly.

What You'll Do

  • Producing and presenting to Financial Control teams monthly analytical reviews of revenues and costs - detailing the movements across account lines for each legal entity.
  • Validating the reported revenue and costs for the month.
  • Liaison with Group Tax and auditors for revenue and cost related requests.
  • Monthly preparation of balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Supporting the business with ad-hoc requests for revenue and cost analysis.
  • Making improvements to business processes to enable onboarding of new products and revenue sources, along with enabling more efficiency in the month end process.
  • Completing revenue and cost accounting processes and processing any adjustments required to satisfy month end reporting requirements. Inputting journals as required.
  • Producing and maintaining standardised procedure documentation.
  • Participation in projects as they arise.

The Knowledge, Experience And Qualifications You Need

We are looking for a partly qualified accountant that understand principles required for producing robust financial reporting and are confident in reporting revenue and cost results to Financial Controllers and Finance Business Partners.

  • An accounting background.
  • Strong systems skills, with advanced Excel and an interest in learning new applications and developing reporting skills.
  • Change focussed, willing to challenge the current way of doing things.
  • Proven problem-solving skills, comfortable taking the initiative in challenging and ambiguous circumstances.
  • Good time keeping, able to manage conflicting workloads and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, combined with ability to derive and implement required tactical measures.
  • Capable of remaining positive when under pressure.

  • We Recognise Potential, Whoever You Are

Our purpose is to provide excellent investment performance to clients through active management. Diversity of thought, facilitated by an inclusive culture, will allow us to make better decisions and better achieve our purpose. This is why inclusion and diversity are a strategic priority for us and why we are an equal opportunities employer. You are welcome here, regardless of your age, disability, gender identity, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, socio-economic background, or any other protected characteristic.
